You've already taken the first step

You are here looking at my website and wondering if I can help you as you have recognised you need 'something', you're considering reaching out for support, this is the first step to a more balanced life.

How I can help you?

With the current worries, life at times can feel overwhelming, confusing even. Leaving you full of Anxiety. It can feel like you are going around in circles, not knowing what way to turn or what to do next. Maybe there are past events impacting you today and you need help to manage that. Maybe there is something specific worrying you.

What ever your reason for reaching out, I am committed to helping you. I offer you a safe and private space where you can feel valued, heard and encouraged to open up. I will listen with sensitivity, non-judgement and empathy to understand your experiences and the way you view the world around you. So together we can explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours to give you a deeper awareness and understanding of yourself and the challenges you are facing. This can give you clarity and confidence to feel empowered to recognise and make meaningful decisions and change where you feel it necessary.

Whilst my initial training is Person Centred, which is a Humanistic approach to therapy, I have enhanced my knowledge through further training and experience to work in a more Integrative way, 'what does this mean I hear you wonder?' I will not bombard you with theoretical approaches and counselling jargon, essentially what this means, is I believe we are all unique individuals, so not one way of working suits all. I will incorporate a range of skills, knowledge and techniques in to our sessions and I will follow your lead and pace whilst working in a way which suits you best.

I do offer activities for you to do outside of the therapy room to provide continuity and to build awareness between sessions. These activities could be in the form of a work sheet, a journal entry, reflections, practice breathing exercises, some form of self care and reading material. Please do not worry, it is not compulsory.

Learn to press the pause button

Learning to press the pause button can be an extremely useful tool to learn when you need to defuse your inner turmoil quickly. Here I will share a quick and simple technique with you - You can close your eyes or keep them open - take a few deep breaths in and out of your nose, recognising the cold air as you breath in and the warm air as you breath out. Any thoughts you have which are trying to grab your attention, acknowledge they are there, but park them to one side and continue to focus on your breathing whilst recognising the different temperature sensations as you go. Repeat this as many times as you need. This offers you the opportunity to press the pause button, as you are focusing on your breathing and the temperature of the air, whilst giving reprieve from the intensity of what you are experiencing. It can feel like a moments peace to prepare you to carry on with your day.
